Artist's CommentsThe most beautiful, and in this photo hungover and heartbroken, Kingsley Chapman The Chapman Family South Gare Teesside Sunday 22nd February 2009 ![]() ![]() The Dark Side of Morning This title was not chosen from a book or a song or anything, it was something I thought of to describe the way Kingsley is feeling. It's morning and whilst the sun is shining and the sea is quite beautiful, his girlfriend had just left him so he's miserable, his heart is broken, he's depressed, and there were far too many fluids being poured the night before, so he's quite hungover with a terrible headache as well. I was quite pleased to have come up with something original for the title. Then I decided to search for this phrase on the internet and found it was linked to some very striking images which were made by a photographer named Douglas R. Gilbert over a period of two years in the 1960s at a school in New York City for children diagnosed with infantile autism. [link] I found it very interesting that we should choose that title for our works which show a darker element to the brightest parts of our lives. So kindly FEATURED!! I wish i was a Warhol silkscreen
Hanging on the wall
Or Little Joe, or maybe Lou
I'd love to be them all.
Then all New York City's broken hearts
And secrets would be mine
I'd put you on a movie reel
And that would be just fine.
