He gave so much more than he took

Gentleman, Footballer, Legend
Sir Bobby Robson
1933-2009

i'm not a big football fan, but i live in newcastle, so i have a lot of casual love for the club itself. Although i've never been to a match, i've always admired sir bobby robson and thought he was the best manager they could have ever had. He was a truly nice man who cared about other people. There used to be a telly advert with him in it a few years ago that i absolutely loved where he was everyone in it. Sadly he was sacked a few years ago, much to the dismay of quite a lot of people. Newcastle should have kept him when they had the chance! [link]

Sir Bobby Robson fought cancer an incredible five times. Sadly, 17 years after his first diagnosis, he lost that long and courageous battle on 31 July 2009. He died very peacefully at his County Durham home with his wife and family beside him.

During the last 18 months of his life, and after retiring from football management, Sir Bobby worked hard towards a new goal - fighting cancer through his charity.

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation focuses on the early detection and treatment of cancer and the clinical trials of new drugs that will eventually beat it.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I wish i was a Warhol silkscreen
Hanging on the wall
Or Little Joe, or maybe Lou
I'd love to be them all.
Then all New York City's broken hearts
And secrets would be mine
I'd put you on a movie reel
And that would be just fine.
:iconjazzylemonade:
but the funniest one is why was it you and not mike ashley.

as sad as it was there (yeah, i cried)
that made me and a few other people who were looking at it at the same time laugh.

everyone was so sad, so quiet, so respectful.

people are so kind. x

Wow, the angle of each image makes it true photography, not some tourist snap-shot, which it could have become if one was not careful.

You can feel the emotion. And I have been educated -facepalm- never knew who he was before.

Lovely photos :]
